Credo di averci pensato la prima volta davanti allo scaffale di un negozio di dischi, completamente coperto dalle colorate compertine delle varie One Shot-qualcosa (principalmente 80). Compilation di ogni tipo e decennio, anche anni 90, ma sempre di brani pop o dance, mai di musica seria (seria perchè piaceva a me, ovviamente). Lì davanti mi venne l’idea di una compilation dei miei anni ‘90, di quelli che avevo ascoltato, ballato, suonato.

Pensavo di fare un cd, forse un doppio… alla fine i cd sono 6, per un totale di 162 canzoni decisamente varie.

Essendo una compilation estremamente personale, ovvio che debba fare un paio di precisazioni, cose che ho dato per scontate ma che voi non potete certo sapere:

Una canzone per gruppo/artista, o la lista sarebbe stata infinita. Questo mi ha obbligato a scelte dolorose.

Non ci sono solo gruppi nati artisticamente o diventati famosi nei 90, ci sono anche i Metallica, Battiato o gli Aerosmith, ma ho ugualmente inserito i loro brani che in qualche modo hanno caratterizzato il decennio..

Le canzoni non sono per forza le migliori o le più famose, sono soprattutto quelle che piacciono a me.

E’ quasi tutto rock e pop, ho volontariamente escluso la dance perchè non la ascoltavo (ma le ho dovuto il giusto tributo nella pagina apposita), il metal estremo (Dismember, At the gates, Cradle of filth e compagnia bella) perchè avrebbe appesantito la playlist, mentre le Spice Girls rappresentano, come una delegazione, il pop più leggero; anche non ascoltandolo, dalle radio usciva ovunque ed è naturale che faccia parte della mia colonna sonora di quegli anni.

Per concludere, l’hip hp italiano è rappresentato da due brani, uno della scuola underground e l’altro della scuola più commerciale e radiofonica, lascio a voi trovarli e riconoscerli.
